Dear Friends and Prayer Partners,
Greetings from Haiti. We continue to wait on the Lord for Him to establish His leaders in all levels of government, heal the nation of Cholera, and bring spiritual, social, and economic transformation to this nation He loves. Haiti, now more than ever, is living in a time when it desperately needs leaders like Israel's King David to move the people forward towards God's awesome dreams and plans. We've been finding great encouragement in God's Word which says:
"He chose David his servant and took him from the sheep pens; from tending the sheep he brought him to be the shepherd of his people Jacob, of Israel his inheritance. And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them." Psalm 78:70-72
Oh how Haiti (and the US) needs leaders who will lead people with integrity of heart and skillful hands! Please join us as we call on the Lord together for this great leadership need.
PRAISE REPORTS
1. We attended and worked at a January 12th memorial service marking the one year anniversary of the earthquake that was called "Celebration of Life." Approximately 100,000 people were in attendance across the street from the ruins of the national palace. Choirs and bands played, people were encouraged, and the gospel was preached. Praise the Lord! Click here to see pictures and read more about "Celebration of Life".
2. Sixty-five children who were previously unable to return to school since last year's earthquake recently began attending Pastor St. Cyr's afternoon primary school near the camp called "Petionville Club." Due to financial hardships their families had been experiencing since the disaster, most of these kids had been staying home. Thanks to the Lord's provision through "earthquake relief" funds and the help of a Church from Jacksonville, FL, these kids are again going to school everyday.
Praise the Lord!
3. God continues to protect us and all our ministry partners from Cholera. Praise the Lord!
PRAYER REQUESTS
1. URGENT!!! The OAS investigation into the election fraud from November has recommended Jude Celestine, the candidate from President Preval's political party "Inite" be removed from the second round run off scheduled for March. The Haiti election commission must make a decision about this by this Wednesday, February 2nd. Please pray for God's will to be done as the election commission ponders, discusses, and carries out their decision to accept or reject the OAS recommendation.
2. Please continue praying for the Haiti election process and in particular that God would give Haiti a president, senators and judicial leaders who will lead with integrity of heart and skillful hands. (psalm 78:72)
3. Please continue to pray the Cholera epidemic would come to an end. There are now more than 4,000 confirmed deaths.
4. Please continue praying for the physical and emotional strength and health of all the health care workers fighting to help people infected with Cholera.
5. Please pray for a special training we will be attending with some of our key ministry partners the week of February 7th - 11th. The emphasis will be on learning and launching into a method of ministry called CHE. (Community Health Evangelism)
6. Please pray for our continued health, protection, and fruitfulness in God's plan for our lives in 2011.
Thank you for your friendship and participation with us in the Lord's work in Haiti through your prayers. We thank the Lord for you and the great blessing you are to us and the people of Haiti!
Love,
Dan, Liz & Joey
